TOOGOOLAWAH's reputation as Australia's single biggest Charolais-infused weaner sale has been further boosted, swelling to an expected 6000 head yarding for Shepherdson and Boyd's 2022 sale to be held on Friday, May 13.
Featuring mainly top quality calves bred in the Brisbane Valley, there are also excellent drafts drawn from surrounding regions.
Lead drafts include up to 600 head from the Titmarsh family, Tandora, Maryborough, and 170 mainly Palgrove bloodline steers and heifers from Jamie and Sigrid Peters, Gin Gin.
The benchmark sale is dominated by quality, vendor-bred calves and includes excellent drafts representing many other infused breeds including Angus, Droughtmaster, Santas, Limousin and Simmental crosses.
At this year's sale there will be an expected 3700 steers and 2300 heifers on offer for buyers. The heifers are considered very suitable as future breeders.
More than 3500 of the 6000 head to be yarded at Toogoolawah will be Charolais types, which typically draw feedlot, backgrounder and restocker buyers from Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
Dick Boyd, Shepherdson and Boyd, said the annual Toogoolawah sale had built a well earned reputation over many years as a major source of top quality, high performing weaners.
"The annual Toogoolawah sale has developed as a terrific source for big lines of high performance weaners that suit all buyers," Mr Boyd said.
"The consistent feedback from repeat buyers is that these young cattle perform wherever they go... and they keep coming back for more.
"Buyers can operate with confidence knowing that the lines of weaners on offer are exceptional quality."
The majority of the well bred and prepared cattle will be presented tick free, allowing immediate delivery to clean areas.
A high percentage have also been vaccinated with Bovi-Shield against bovine respiratory disease.
As in previous years, awards - including bulls credits - will be presented immediately before the sale for the top pens of weaners.
Award presentations - including the grand champion pen of weaner steers and heifers - kick off at 8am in the lead up to the 9am start to the sale.
