Buyers bid up big during the Nutrien Supreme Birthday Bonanza Sale last week to break Supreme Sale records across all major categories.
Drawing huge interest with 1400 registered bidders, of which 276 were active to place 1444 bids, the sale saw 97 yearling, ridden and broodmare lots sell via AuctionsPlus for a top price of $38,000 and average of $9286, to gross $900,750.
The top money was achieved twice, coming at the back end of the sale, by way of two ridden mares.
Major vendors Geoffrey and Jennifer Porges, Trinity Stockhorses, Orange, NSW, made the top money for their four-year-old, Leah Read-trained mare Trinity Acres Elise (Acres Destiny X Kirkbys Stud Elsie), that sold to a Queensland purchaser.
Shortly after, Lyra View Trading, Capella, presented four-year-old mare Wyena Idle (Binnia Ideal X Clarkeville Kathryn) to also draw a record-breaking top price from purchasers Ashlar Stud, Wodonga, Victoria.
Ridden gelding entries were strong with a line-up of quality lots on offer. Top price honours went to Wayne and Chris Baumann, Werris Creek, NSW, for four-year-old Miel Lena Oak (Miel Lethal Style X Shameless Oak), sold for $14,500 to Qld.
Five quality stallions were available, with Rhondhu Spins Red Duck (Blue Duck Oakie X Shania Spin) on account of the Rhondhu Stud, Mingela, taking out the section. The talented Novice stallion was purchased for $17,000 by Lois Cameron.
The yearling entries continued to impress with Stephen Kneipp's stunning filly Kneipps Eclipse (Wallabah Excel X Kneipps Destinys Child) breaking yet another sale record, selling for $32,000 to Comet Downs Cattle Co.
A remarkable line-up of yearling geldings made to a top of $13,000 for Sheady Nashville (Royal Heart Throb X Sheady Maggie May) from Brian and Kayleen Sutton, Lakeside, purchased by Dean and Sam Pollard, Sahara Park Wagyu.
This year's line-up of broodmares showcased strong depths of breeding and proven performance backgrounds. Trinity Stockhorses raised the bar on yet another sales record, selling Spins Encounter (Doc's Spinifex X Freckles Peppy Bar) for $21,500 to the Velvet Quarter Horse Ranch, NSW.
Mark Barton, who has been involved with Nutrien Equine from its beginning, said the entire team were thrilled with the results of their first ever multi-vendor online sale. "With interest in the concept pre-sale, it was very rewarding to see the efforts from our vendors go so well," he said.
Nutrien's Colby Ede said the online model had given opportunity to vendors and purchasers from near and far to be involved with the Supreme Sale.
