SOME councillor candidates for the March 28 local government elections in the Rockhampton and Issac regional jurisdictions will be installed without a vote being cast.
Councillors Greg Austen (Division 1), Gina Lacey (Div 3), Simon West (Div 4), Kelly Vea Vea (Div 5), Lyn Jones (Div 6) and Jane Pickels (Div 7) will be returned unopposed to the Issac Regional Council as will Mayor Anne Baker.
On the other hand incumbent Division 2 Councillor Delville Wheeler will confront rival Sandy Moffat and three contenders - Vivienne Coleman, Karen Harris and Jennifer Ennis - will vie for votes in Division 8.
Over in Rockhampton, Crs Tony Williams (Div 3), Ellen Smith (Div 4) and Drew Wickerson (Div 7) are unopposed.
However, constituents in Divisions 1 (Shane Latcham, Vince Roberston and Sherrie Ashton), 2 (Neil Fisher and Gavin Shuker), 5 (Cherie Rutherford and Peter Anderson) and 7 (Noeleen Horan and Donna Kirkland) will have to cast votes for their preferred representative.
Rockhampton mayor Margaret Strelow faces opponent Chris Hooper in her bid to retain the top job. Four of the the councillors facing the ballot box - Fisher, Smith, Rutherford and Wickerson - are seeking another term in office after holding sway in 2016.
In Gladstone the mayoralty will be a match race between Matt Burnett and Michael Fearns while Crs Desley O'Grady, Glenn Churchill, Chris Trevor, Rick Hansen and Kahn Goodluck will be out to repeat their 2016 electoral successes.
Bill Ludwig's quest to win another four years as Livingstone Regional Council's top job has become a three-cornered contest with Andy Ireland and Lynelle Burns choosing to run against the incumbent.
Crs Christine Rolfe, Charlie Brimblecombe, Alan McIndoe and Megan Daniels were 2016 winners for the Central Highlands Regional Council and hope to return alongside Mayor Kerry Hayes, who is unopposed.
Four of the 10 councillors chasing a place at the table for the Somerset Regional Council were successful at the previous civic poll in 2016.
Last start winners Bob Whalley, Sean Choat, Cheryl Gaedtke and Helen Brieschke will to the polls against Jason Wendt, Bronwyn Davies, Mike Tanner, David McInally, Josh Squire and Kylee Isidro.
