Sullivan Livestock yarded 552 store cattle for the last Gympie sale for 2017 where the market was firm for heavy feeders, while light weaners met spirited competition. Cattle were drawn from Childers, Maryborough, Kilkivan, Woolooga and all local areas.
Quality Charbray steers from Neville and Lyndall Ensby, Bergins Pocket sold to a top of 306c to return $1573, $1550, $1589, $1457 and $1450. While Alexis Ensbey’s Charbray and Droughtmaster steers made 301c ($1489 and $1482). Charbray steers from Steve Bury, Kandanga made 308c for $1386. Charbray steers from Jim and Sue Heath made 309c ($1223). Droughtmaster weaner steers from Agnesvale Pastoral, Childers sold for 459c ($824), 433c ($828), 383c ($915). Droughtmaster steers from Manumbar sold for 415c ($925) and 371c ($903).
High grade Brahman heifers from Astenridge Pty Ltd, Marodian Station sold for 285c ($1205 and $1194). Droughtmaster heifers from Manumbar sold to a top of 335c to return $794, $749 and $702. Five pens of light Droughtmaster cross heifers from Rosedale made 353c.
Brahman cross cows and calves from Minto Trust, Ban Ban Springs made $1420. Nielsen Properties, Hervey Bay sold Brahman cross cow and calf for $1450. Droughtmaster cows and calves from Gary and Sharon Beutel, Langshaw made $1425. The next run of cows and calves generally sold from $1000 to $1210
The first sale for 2018 is a store sale only commencing at 9am on January 8.
