THE prized Boyne Valley property Dalga has sold after auction for an undisclosed figure to Bill and Sue Rossey from Gaeta, north west of Gin Gin.
Dalga, which has a total grazing area of 13,212ha (32,647 acres) and is estimated to run 1500-1700 breeders, was initially passed in at the Elders auction in Biloela, $5.87 million on a bid from the floor.
Marketing agent Virgil Kenny, Elders, said four of the five registered bidders was active at the auction.
Dalga has 7675 hectares (18,965 acres) in four freehold titles, 821ha (2029 acres) of leasehold country, and stock grazing permits covering a further 4716ha (11,653 acres). It is located about 100km south of Gladstone and 70km north east of Monto.
Dalga was offered on a walk in, walk out basis with 1000 Grey Brahman breeders joined to Nobbs family bred Brahman and Charbray bulls. The young breeders were described as being mostly on their first calf.
A comprehensive range of plant and equipment was also included in the sale.
Dalga is described as being mainly gently undulating blue gum flats adjacent to the Kolan River, running to good open forest country which is supported by numerous main creek flats, open ironbark and box hollows. There has been extensive timber treatment carried out including about 1200ha of pulled country.
The property features a double frontage to the Kolan River, which is fed by several main water courses, all of which have permanent water holes. Water is also supplied from four bores supported by 37 dams and numerous springs.
Dalga is divided into 20 main paddocks and several holding paddocks which are serviced by a new laneway system.
Improvements include a high set four bedroom homestead with granny flat, a 35KVA back-up generator, a machinery/hay shed, and three sets of cattle yards.
