INVERELL producer Peter Krause's full blood female Sunnyside ROOO7 has topped the Elite Wagyu sale at an impressive $65,000.
The 10 month Coates Itoshigenami G113 bloodline Japanese fullblood black heifer sold to Peter McCullagh, Amberoo Wagyu, Hirstglen, south of Toowoomba.
The maiden heifer is joined to PSKFPO356 (a son of Macquarie Wagyu Y408) and is the top 1 per cent EBVs for 600 day weight gains.
Top bull at $55,000 was Olive Grove Wagyu R18 (ET) offered by Yogi Farms. R18 - a fullblood black by Sumo Cattle Co Michifuku L195 - sold to Alexander Saez, AOA Queensland.
Semen was in very strong demand with a 100pc clearance of the 168 straws offered.
The $50,000/straw top price was paid for two straws from Coates Itoshigenami G113 by Mitchell and Loren Ruth, Synergy Wagyus, Pennsylvania, US.
G113 is recognised as one of the most dominant carcase sires in recent times, with 60pc of his progeny marbling a maximum 9 or 9-plus with an average weight of 497kg. The straws were offered by Macquarie, Leyburn.
A total of 12 of the 20 embryos offered sold. The $2900 top was paid by Marcel Merz, Top Wagyu, Switzerland, for a lot from Amberoo Wagyu, Hirstglen.
The three flushes offered also sold. UK buyer Paul Angelides pay $18,000 twice for two lots from John Gommers, Shokunin Wagyu.
There was good interest in the sale with international buyers taking seven 7 lots - three to the, two to the UK, one to Ireland, and one to Switzerland.
