MORE good rain is shown for much of Australia over the next few days, particularly on Thursday and Friday.
The latest Bureau of Meteorology computer modelling shows virtually all of Queensland bar the northern section of Cape York Peninsula, NSW, Victoria and South Australia are all set to receive 15mm-plus falls.
Queensland's best rain should come on Thursday and Friday (see maps below) in a broad band stretching from Camooweal in the far north west through to the Gold Coast.
With forecasters talking up prospects also for December and January, it's is shaping up as a very positive summer.
On Wednesday BOM says a weak ridge will extend over eastern Queensland with a broad rain band developing over western Queensland, as deep tropical moisture is drawn into the state.
Areas areas of rain are expected in western Queensland.
On Thursday, the broad rain band and deep tropical moisture will move across western, central, and southern Queensland.
BOM says there is a high to very high chance of showers and thunderstorms, with areas of rain in western, central, and southern Queensland. Severe thunderstorms are also possible.
On Friday, BOM forecasts the rain band and deep tropical moisture will contract to eastern Queensland and weaken, with drier air building across the south west
There is a slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms, increasing to a high to very high chance with areas of morning rain in central, eastern, and south eastern Queensland.
BOM says the likelihood of a tropical cyclone developing in the northern region is currently very low.
