AFTER a bit of a wait, the Territory has welcomed back its annual bull sale at the Bill Prior Yards today and to top it off, it reached $19,000.
Signalling a pretty solid season ahead, the Elders Alice Springs sale offered and sold 11 bulls, averaging $12,500, with bulls offered from three studs.
SA-based stud, Days Whiteface, Bordertown, made the top price and it was regular buyers, Undoolya Station's Ben and Nicole Hayes that made the final bid.
The sale-topping bull was sired by Days Genesis N102 (AI) (PP) and out of Days Shamrock P130 (AI) (P).
The June 2020-drop bull showed solid growth rates and recorded Estimated Breeding Values that included +50 for 200-day growth, +79 for 400 days and +104 for 600 days.
Days Whiteface stud offered five bulls in total, averaging $16,000.
Another SA stud, Keringa Angus, Lameroo, offered two bulls, topping at $10,000, with the top price lot sold to Brad Seymour, Haasts Bluff, via Alice Springs.
The other bull made $9000 and went the same way.
NT stud, Savannah Droughtmasters, were the final stud to offer bulls and reached a $12,000 top price.
The stud cleared all four bulls that were offered, averaging $10,000.
The stud also offered charity heifer, Hope, that made $5000 and sold to Garden Station Via Alice Springs, with proceeds going to Drought Angels and the Centralian Beef Breeders Association.
