A huge crowd of eager racegoers made the trip out to Taroom to celebrate the beginning of 2022 trackside at the Dawson Jockey Club's New Year's race day.

The five-race meet attracted lots of attention from both locals and visitors, kicking off this year's events calendar with a hugely successful weekend for the community.

Many patrons backed up for the big day after ringing in the New Year at the Taroom New Year's Eve event held at the showgrounds on Friday Night.

Lack of sleep and sore heads didn't stop the crowd from supporting the heavily anticipated race meet, enjoying live music and cold drinks well into the night.
