Karmoo Brahmans annual 2021 on-property bull sale achieves 100pc clearance in Clermont

The Faint family of Karmoo Brahmans, Marmordale, Clermont, sold all 38 bulls, representing 100 per cent clearance for an average of $5842, a top of $19,000 and an overall sale gross of $222,000.

The 100pc sale clearance was driven by commercial buyers across Central and Far North Queensland looking to add quiet, fertile and good carcase quality bulls to their herds.

It was Timor Grazing Company from St George that topped the sale, purchasing Lot 11 Karmoo Wobbly Arrow (PS) for $19,000.

The 33-month-old by Karmoo Grey Arrow 3220 (H) and out of Karmoo Cassy Katie 1587 (PS) tipped the scales at 913 kilograms.

The sire-prospect measured 37cm in scrotal circumference, and scanned 143 square centimetres for eye muscle area, 10mm and 7mm, respectively, for rib and rump fat, and 4.5 per cent for intramuscular fat.

He was one of the oldest bull on offer by the Faint family, and recorded one of the highest average daily weight gains on grass by 0.95kg per day.

A second-top price was achieved by Gavin and Sue Spurdle, Spurdle Grazing, Linden Hills, Dotswood who purchased Lot 10 Karmoo Lucky Hia (H) for $11,000, who was one of four bulls the Spurdle family took home.

The 33-month-old was sired by Bungoona Hiawatha 2510/2 (H) and out of Grazzi 269 (H).

Weighing 909kg and measuring 34cm in scrotal circumference, Lucky Hia scanned 122sq cm for EMA, 16mm and 11mm, respectively, at the P8 and rib, and 6.0 pc for IMF.

The catalogue presented value buying and multiple volume buyers paid top money to secure Karmoo genetics.

Emon RUO Grazing put together a draft of six bulls for a top of $7500, for an average of $5250, while PYL Cattle Co purchased five Brahman bulls for a top of $10,500 and an average of $6600.

Karmoo Brahmans stud principals Lance, Sonia and Kirstin Faint were very pleased with their on-property sale result, with overall figures up on last year's results.

"It was a pretty good results. The clearance was really high and we received a lot of support locally in Clermont and quite a lot of our bulls sold into the Far North," Mr Faint said.

"The top bull had a lot of length, with a good polly head, high content and very good fertility figures. We're happy he went to a pretty good home.

"We thought the bulls were a good line, and presented well across the board, with the greys being an exceptional group, while our younger red bulls were also a very even draft.

"Buyers came from quite a few different areas and we actually picked up quite a few more clients."
