CHAROLAIS led the way cracking a top of $33,000 at the consistently strong Advance bull sale at the Roma Saleyards on Monday.
Conducted by Elders and interfaced online with Elite Livestock Auctions, the sale averaged $12,945 for a 98 per cent clearance.
In breakdown, the 26 Charolais topped $33,000 to average $12,703, the 39 Angus $26,000 to average $13,202, and four Red Angus $13,000 to average $12,000.
Sale topper was Brendan Scheiwe's polled Brendale Quarterback, which headed to Nick Curran and Samantha Cooksley's, Spenbar Brahmans and Charbrays, Condamine.
Nick Curran said he was particularly impressed by the length and the thickness of the 24 month old polled bull by Colinta Levi.
Quarterback entered the salering at 1014kg and will go over both select Brahman and Charolais cows in the 500-cow Spenbar operation. The stud sire had a massive 154 square centimetre eye muscle area, 4.3 per cent intramuscular fat, 13mm and 10mm fat measurements and a 43cm scrotal measurement.
Cameron and Sons, Kilima, Roma, paid $23,000 for the red factor polled Lockyer Queenslander, also by Colinta Levi and offered by Brendale. The 20 month old bull had a 140sq cm EMA and 10mm and 7mm fat measurements.
Brendale retained 50 straws from both Quarterback and Queenslander for future use.
The Stokes family, Mount Walker, bought Brendale Ridley - another Levi son - for $20,000. The impressive 830kg 18 month old had 11mm and 8mm fat measurements, a 136sq cm EMA, and a 39cm scrotal.
Stephen Hayward and Kelly Smith, Allora, topped the Angus section at $26,000 for K5X Quarders Q18, which has a 132sq cm EMA. That 22 month old bull went to volume buyer Parker Grazing, Clare Station, Jericho, which took seven for an average $17,714. Parker Grazing other buys included the $22,000 K5X Quicksilver Q30.
Brett Haagar, Valorbrooke Angus, Bell, also paid $22,000 for K5X Quilpi Q43. The 932kg 23 month old by Merridale Mitchell had a 120sq cm EMA.
Burton Family Trust, Moola Creek, Maclagan, paid $17,000 for K5X Ramsay R5 by Irelands Minister. The 19 month old had a 37cm scrotal.
Appleton Pastoral Company, Stur Downs, Alpha, purchased five for an average of $16,000, including two at $18,000.
Brett Griffin, Sydera, Yuleba, also bought five. The Rolfe family, Marie Downs, Roma, and Spean Pastoral Company, Esk, both bought three. Spean Pastoral paid $18,000 for Brendale Ranger, an Australian purebred by Ascot Maximus.
