More than 110 golfers travelled to Quilpie on the weekend hoping to land a life changing $1 million hole-in-one.
But the bounty remains unclaimed.
Held on the red earthed outback golf course, the 10th hole from 167 metres was chosen for the high priced shot which didn't prove easy.
Competitors Josh Lambert (Roma), Andrew Turnbull (Tambo), Sam Bartlett, Al McNall, Dave Bodkin and Duncan McNair (all from Quilpie) were in the final shootout with Mr McNair producing the closest shot.
"Unfortunately we didn't send anyone home a millionaire on the Saturday, but we had a lot of fun trying. The excitement of competitors was palpable," Quilpie Golf Club president Bruce Paulsen said.
"We had groups of friends who'd come to try their luck from all around South Western Queensland, as well as a good contingent of local would-be golfers.
"It was a great day, and we're already looking at how we can make our 2022 event an absolute must on the golfing calendar."
The weekend also featured an 18-hole stroke competition with $15,000 in prizes.
Social distancing was easy to manage on the vast outback golf course, and the day provided much needed relief for many locals who had a roller coaster year in business due to COVID-19 and travel restrictions.
Several of the competitors also opted to stay on in the region for the The Quilpie Show and Shearers Reunion on September 10 and 11 and the Quilpie Motorbike Gymkhana and Enduro on September 25 and 26.
