BULLS sold to a top of $26,000, to average $11,170 at at the extremely strong Coolabunia Classic Charolais sale on Thursday.
Held at the Coolabunia Saleyards near Kingaroy, the 47 bulls offered by four studs resulted in a 100 percent clearance with plenty of competition on almost every bull.
Indicating the level of demand for quality bulls was that selling agent Aussie Land and Livestock handed out 72 bid cards in addition to the 45 bidders who were registered online with Elite Livestock Auctions.
Sale topper was Charnelle Quartermaster, a polled bull with outstanding figures, the sold online to long time supporters Steve and Alison Kajewski, Betterfield Charolais, Emerald.
Quartermaster entered the sale ring at 920kg with a 11mm of fat at the P8, 7mm of fat at the rib, and a 140 square centimetre eye muscle area. His working gear was equally impressive: 89 per cent morphology and a 40cm scrotal measurement.
The under bidder was Hacon and Co, Cloncurry, which went on to pay $15,000 for Charnelle Quasar, an AI bull by JWX Silver Bullet. That bull was in the top 5pc for short gestation, carcase weight and yield.
Second top price of $25,000 was paid for another Charnelle bull, this time Milford Braxton (ET). The 23 month old sold to the Davis family, Riversleigh Pastoral, Woolooga, to go into their noted Droughtmaster herd.
Braxton has a 13mm P8, 9mm rib, 144sq cm EMA, 82pc morphology and 36.5cm scrotal.
Volume buyer was Brisbane Valley based Maylake, which bought four including the red factor polled bull Silverwood Quality 10mm and 7mm fat measurements for $18,000.
Bruce and Sue Mikkelson, Wiluna Charolais and Charbrays, Yandaran, outlayed $17,000 for Chardonnay Blackjack, a polled AI bull by Elder's Blackjack, with high growth rate/low birth weight attributes.
Rodney and Lindsay Blanch, Nanango also sold the 30 month old Silverwood Quinton with a 143sq cm EMA for $16,000 to Riversleigh.
Homozygous polled River Run Quicksilver topped Len, Pat and Tania Hayne's draft of 12 very attractive bulls. Quicksilver, who has a 138sq cm EMA sold to Sharmarel Farming, St George, for $16,000.
Brad Scott, Nanango, also paid $16,000 for Charnelle Quickstep, a polled bull in the top 10pc for 200 and 600 day growth rates. Adding to Quickstep's credentials was he placed fifth in the 2021 Sire Shootout competition.
The big, long River Run Quarter Master by Ascot Gunn sold to Allen van Itallie, Biloela, for $14,000. The polled 24 month old had very impressive growth figures backed by 13mm, 10mm fat measurements.
Nelson and Judy Hewiit, Judel, Delaneys Creek, also paid $14,000 for Charnelle Rafa a homozygous polled bull by CML Distinction.
Reade Radel, Injune, paid the same money for Charnelle Quicksilver, which was ranked in the top 5pc EBVs for 400 and 600 day growth, scrotal size and carcase weight.
Bongmuller Partnership, Woolooga, paid $13,000 for the easy calving, homozygous polled Silverwood Quender.
Black Duck Remington, an Elder's Blackjack bull offered by Greg Nicholson and Graham and Katrina Blanch, sold for $13,000 to the Hoogenstratens from Goomeri.
The Greg Lee from the Diamond L stud also had a very solid sale achieving a top of $12,000 twice. Bill Campbell, Gin Gin, bought the two polled, red factor bulls - Diamond L Quinn and Diamond L Quiz. Both were by Ascot Juggernaught. Quiz also boasted catalogue topping 95pc morphology.
The polled River Run Quarry sold for $12,000 to the Marriotts from Yarraman.
John Mewing, Colinton; Mark and Ned Duffield, Tuckonie, Moonie; Ashley and Michelle Casten, Nobby; and AB Grazing, Maidenwell; all outlaid $11,000 for quality bulls. WAK Pastoral, Eidsvold, paid $10,000 for Charnelle Quando Quando by JWK Silver Bullet.
