Cattle numbers reduced by 706 head down to 2874 at Dalby on Wednesday.
The overall quality was generally good. The usual export buyers were in attendance and operating along with some additional support from Victorian processors.
A large panel of feeder buyers and restockers were also in attendance. Prices for a number of classes of young cattle continued to improve, with any downward price changes due to quality. A fair selection of cows maintained the previous weeks improved prices.
Light weight yearling steers under 200kg made to 738c to average 627c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg returning to the paddock averaged 582c with sales to 652c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 544c and sold to 572c, with heavy weight yearling steers to feed selling to a top of 570c and a good selection averaging 508c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg returning to the paddock made to 680c to average 589c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg averaged 518c and sold to 580c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 491c and sold to 528c and heavy weights also to feed made to 502c to average 459c/kg.
Medium weight grown steers to feed averaged 412c and made to 468c/kg. Heavy grown steers to feed averaged 434c with sales to 442c/kg. A small sample of bullocks to export processors made to 426c, and a handful of heavy grown heifers made to 418c/kg.
Medium weight plain conditioned cows returning to the paddock averaged 319c and made to 340c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 339c and sold to a top of 355c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 341c/kg.
