Decadence may invite notions of luxury and self-indulgence, or It may evoke ideas of wanton excess or wastefulness, perhaps with a casual or deliberate disregard of consequence.
Depending on circumstances, personal definitions of decadence can shift quite suddenly.
The complex notion, both within their own communities and households across Queensland, was what artists were encouraged to explore in 2020 for the 10th year of the Queensland Regional Art Awards.
The resulting Decadence exhibition, celebrating a decade of rewarding regional Queensland arts and the wealth of creativity and imagination thriving in the regions, launched in Charleville recently.
Guests from as far away as Mornington Island attended.
The exhibition is open in Charleville until August 14 and will then travel to Charters Towers and Tambo.
