There was a small increase in supply to 278 head at the Toowoomba cattle sale.
Export buyer attendance was good with the return of most of the major export processors. The regular feed and trade buyers were also in attendance, plus a large line up of local restockers.
Prices improved for a number of classes compared to the previous sale of three weeks ago, with local restockers very active in the market.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 7c/kg better. Restockers also provided very strong support on the medium and heavy weight yearling steers. All classes of cows sold to a stronger price trend.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 571c and made to a top of 682c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kg also returned to the paddock at an average of 551c and made to 582c/kg. A handful of heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg sold to restockers at an average of 457c and made to 470c/kg. A small selection of heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 411c and made to 418c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg returning to the paddock made to 582c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to background or restockers made to 526c to average 507c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 448c to 462c and made to 480c/kg.
The occasional manufacturing bullock made to 319c to return $2841/head. Medium weight 2 score cows to restockers averaged 264c and heavy weights made to 293c to average 290c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors made to 304c to average 292c/kg. Cows and calves made to $2550/unit.
