THE Job family held their annual Royalla Shorthorns bull sale at the Longreach Western Queensland Livestock Exchange on Wednesday, where the sale topped at $16,000.
Overall 12 of 16 bulls sold for a $7541 average, with top price honours going to Royalla Q013, sold for $16,000 to Appleton Cattle Co, Islay Plains, Alpha.
The Appleton family are regular supporters of Royalla's, taking home seven bulls at this year's bull sale.
The 24 month-old son of Royalla Rockstar K274 and Royalla G469A attracted strong interest, with 14 bids.
Rockstar is one of the most in demand bulls in the Shorthorn breed, with one of his sons selling for $38,000 in Canada last month.
The Appleton Cattle Company also bought the second-top price bull Royalla P323, who sold for $14,000.
Royalla Q041 bull attracted strong interest, with 12 bids taking the selling price to $13,000.
As a yearling he had intramuscular fat of 6.1pc, with 7mm and 5mm fats.
Elders Stud Stock representative Andrew Meara said the better end bulls were very strongly sought after.
"We ended up having two main buyers and both were repeat buyers that have been buying up Royalla cattle for a long time," Mr Meara said.
"The top price bull was a lovely, well-grown top bull, with plenty of eye appeal and a structurally correct animal overall.
"The buyer was very happy with him, he's an ideal bull to go out there and do a job in the west."
