CENTRAL Queensland will be hosting Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her ministers next month, following the announcement that the next regional Cabinet meeting will be held in Longreach in May.
Regional communities will hope the government will listen and act on a range of important issues that will likely be raised during their visit to western and central Queensland.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told parliament she was taking her cabinet to the outback as part of Queensland's economic recovery and to showcase the best of the bush.
"My government is committed to getting out and about in our communities, and one of the best ways we can do that is by holding regional Cabinet meetings outside of Brisbane," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"Since we have been re-elected, we have been to Townsville and we have had an offsite visit to Ipswich, and today I can announce that I am taking my Cabinet out west. We love the outback!"
"We are absolutely committed to the outback. It is going to be wonderful. We know there are wonderful people out there."
Pit stop at BEEF Australia
The Premier's trip will also coincide with Beef Australia, which will be held from 2-8 May in Rockhampton.
Agriculture contributes $200 million to the Central Queensland economy each year and the cattle industry remains the biggest component.
Ms Palaszczuk said her government is committed to the communities in outback Queensland.
"Next month we will be going to Longreach and Barcaldine, out to the west. We love the west. We love the outback," she said.
"This is a great opportunity to get out and meet people and talk to them about what is important in their lives-whether it is health, education or economic recovery-and hear their ideas.
"We will also be heading to Beef Week. Many of my ministers will be at Beef Week, once again supporting another strong industry in our state."
The Premier said Queensland's economic recovery was a priority across the state.
"We want to make sure that whatever needs to be done is being done and that includes our regional outback towns," the Premier said.
"We're committed to supporting the tourism industry and small businesses, fast tracking road infrastructure, investing in health and education and attracting new investment to the region - all while creating regional jobs.
"Queensland's Outback has been very strong as part of the economic recovery. Tourism has rebounded."
State cabinet will be held in Longreach on Tuesday 4 May.
