Darling Downs Suffolk and White Suffolk breeders Josh Milton and Anne Hall, Milton Park, Allora, have taken home the Fred Bebbington Memorial Trophy at the Toowoomba Royal Show.
Mr Milton's 10-month-old Suffolk ewe was named the grand champion ewe before going on to receive the supreme sheep of the show accolade.
A Suffolk entry from Mr Milton and Ms Hall won the Lorna Milton Memorial for all breeds ram and ewe pair, while their quality line-up went on to win supreme champion breeders group.
Mr Milton is no stranger to the show ring but said it had been a difficult preparation period in the lead up to the Toowoomba Royal.
"The uncertainty of the COVID situation and then the drought period; we were wondering if you'd be able to show sheep at all," he said.
"It's pretty exciting to win these awards as you put a lot of effort into breeding your sheep."
Mr Milton said the Dubbo Show has always been their major show but with the ongoing uncertainty, and entries closing last week, they won't be heading south this year.
Chris and Meryl Rubie, Sovereign Poll Dorsets, Warwick, also had a strong showing, taking home the gong for grand champion ram of the show. The 10.5-month-old ram weighed in at 102kg and was by sire, Valley Vista.
The Rubies also scored the top spot for all breeds pair of rams, under the watchful eye of judge Brendan Mansbridge, Eugowra, via Forbes.
"We regard that as extremely important because often you can come up with one ram but to come up with a pair of rams that are almost identical and good enough to win a supreme is extremely satisfying," Mr Rubie said.
"It shows some depth in your breeding."
Melanie Hurley, Melete Dorpers, Kogan, won the all breeds pair of ewes.
In the performance class, Mr Milton and Ms Hall took home the top title, with the Rubies coming in second and third.
