Opening their female herd up to bidders for the first time paid off for the Warren family, Elridge Charolais, on Monday, when interest from multiple states helped them achieve a 100 per cent clearance.
It was a fitting result for the stud's 30 year celebration, with all 46 lots sold to average $5225 and top at $14,000.
Stud principal Ross Warren said the sale was about giving people the opportunity to experience their breeding program.
"It was a chance for people to have a look at our program and we really appreciated the wide support we received across the country," Mr Warren said.
"As all stud breeders do, we have put a lot of energy in developing a line of cattle that fits the environment with a broad enough genetic base to introduce to whatever bull people want them to."
Topping the sale and the cow and calf section at $14,000 was Elridge B-Wicked M37E (P) and RUU R75E at foot.
Purchased by Minnie-Vale Charolais, Narrabri, NSW, via AuctionsPlus, the 4.5-year-old cow was sired by Paringa Rio Bravo D213 (P) and out of Elridge B-Wicked K26E (P).
She boasted estimated breeding values of 15 for calving ease direct, -3.4 gestation length and -2.9 birth weight, 15 for mature cow weight, and 32 for 600-day growth.
At foot, the eight-month-old homozygous polled heifer calf was sired by LT Venture (P).
Mr Warren said the pair were his pick of the bunch and flagged their immense potential.
"The pair just had everything right, a thick cow and the calf was exactly the same. That cow will just keep breeding on and on, and the calf is just outstanding. We're really thankful to Minnie-Vale for their support," he said.
"She's in calf to our new Palgrove purchase, Palgrove Precision, from last spring and we're really excited to see how that cow breeds out to that bull."
The top sellers were one of six cow and calf units up for grabs, with an average of $9750 across the section.
The breeding line also claimed the top PTIC P heifer price, with Elridge B-Wicked Q28E (P) knocked down for $9000 to junior Stephanie Hartwig, from Little Gem Charolais, Jones Gully.
The 21-month-old heifer was sired by Glenlea Honourable (P) (R/F) and out of Elridge B-Wicked L13E, and was artificially inseminated to Raille Sovereign in November 2020.
The heifer was Ms Hartwig's first female purchase and the junior Charolais member is looking towards showcasing her own stud line soon.
Topping the unjoined heifer section was Elrdige Digna Q135E (P) (R/F) at $8500.
Purchased by Silverstone Livestock, Western Australia, the 19-month-old was by Palgrove Hallmark (P) (R/F) and out of Sirrah Digna M4E (R/F).
Overall, nine PTIC Q heifers averaged $5278, and six PTIC P heifers averaged $5667. Ten unjoined R heifers averaged $3100, and eight unjoined Q heifers averaged $4222.
The sale also included an offering of genetic packages from Clare Charolais.
Seven embryos from Moongool Kartel (P) (R/F) and Shiloh Ever-Red-E (P) (R/F) averaged $607, while six semen packages of 10 straws averaged $73.33 per straw.
Selling agent James Bredhauer, Aussie Land and Livestock, said it was great to have so much online activity, with 29 bidders joining the sale via AuctionsPlus.
"Cattle went all around Australia and it was fantastic to see such strong support for the Warren family online," he said.
Despite the demand for Elridge females and the success of the sale, Mr Warren said they wouldn't be having another female sale anytime soon.
"It's been about a decade since we last sold a female and it will be another ten years before we do it again," he said.
"If it wasn't for the 30 year celebration, we wouldn't have been selling at all."
