For their 8th on-property bull and female sale John and Nicole Hopkins, Wormbete Simmentals, Illabo invited longstanding friends and committed Simmental breeders Stuart and Samantha Moeck, Valley Creek Simmentals, Bowral to once again offer their cattle.

Sale summary:

  • 26/26 bulls sold, top $21,000. av $10,461
  • 22/22 females sold, top $10,000, av $6909

The top priced bull, VC Renown at $21,000 was bought by Craig Wooding, Magpie Park Simmentals, Penola, SA when offered by Stuart and Samantha Moeck, Valley Creek Simmentals, Bowral.

Mr Wooding was attracted to his choice of the draft for the exemplary shape and structure of the yearling sire along with his genetic lineage.

His new stud sire prospect was a son of SVS Captain Morgan 11Z from a daughter of MR NLC Upgrade U876.

"We are pretty keen on the Captain Morgan bloodline which is giving us softness and doabilty in our cattle," he said.

"They are important traits for the production of premium beef and with the bull's correct structure, length and depth of body we are happy he will be a great addition to our stud herd."

The bulls figures included +0.3 birthweight, +44 600 day growth, +3.9 EMA and +0.2 rib.
