The market met spirited competition for all descriptions at Gympie on Monday.

A smaller yarding of 615 cattle at Gympie on Monday for the first sale of 2021 for Sullivan Livestock saw the market meet spirited competition for all descriptions.

Heavy Droughtmaster steers from the Fritz family sold for 438c/kg ($2239). Travan and Marr sold Droughtmaster steers for 432c ($2126). Charbray steers from McAuliffe Farms topped at 440c ($1823) and 434c ($1758). Charbray steers from the Heath Family, Calgoa, sold for 436c, ($1603 and $1599).

Brangus steers from R and D Pender, Hidden Valley, Tansey made 470c ($1545 and $1559). Droughtmaster weaner steers from LKA Trust, Wonga, sold for 540c ($1138), while their Charbray cross brothers made 528c ($1170). Limo cross steers from Ian Reynolds, Kilkivan, made 482c ($1171).

Brangus heifers from S and L Vollmerhausen, Theebine, sold for 400c ($1705). Limousine heifers from Lance Bunter, Kia Ora, made 450c ($1320). Droughtmaster and Charbray heifers from Bergins Pocket, made 478c and 460c ($1131 and $1186).

The Grattidge family sold Droughtmaster heifers for 496c ($1104). Droughtmaster heifers from D and S Durrie, Blake Snake, made 488c ($1241). Charbray heifers from LKA Trust made 508c ($1030). Droughtmaster heifers from J and A Carlson, Miva, sold for 492c ($1188).

Charbray cows and calves from the McIntyre family sold for $2700, while Droughtmaster cross cows and calves from Les Howard made $2075.
