A combination of the forecast of some rain and the last sale before the annual break reduced numbers to 232 head at the Toowoomba cattle sale on Monday.

A smaller number of export buyers were in attendance, however all the regular feed and trade buyers, plus local and interstate restockers were present and active.
Light weight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock experienced very strong support for the quality penned. Yearling steers and heifers to feed followed a similar trend. The handful of cows penned received very little change in price.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 496c a fair sample averaging 460c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 424c to 442c with isolated sales to 468c/kg. The occasional heavy weight yearling steer to feed made to 408c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background made to 425c to average 424c, and secondary lines averaged 386c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged 425c and made to 436c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 241c, and a couple of good heavy cows made to 280c/kg. A single well bred cow and calf made to $3,200 per unit.
The next Toowoomba cattle sale will be held on 11th January 2021.
