Sullivan Livestock yarded 1788 cattle at their Gympie sale on Monday where the market for meatworks cattle were dearer, while stores met very spirited competition. Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Dallarnil, Aramara, Brooweena, Woolooga, Tansey, Goomeri, Kilkivan, Maleny, Conondale, Eumundi and all local areas.

Droughtmaster steers from D and R Seath, Sandy Creek, topped at 416c/kg to return $1703/head. High grade Brahman steers from Dallarnil made 414c/$1623. Brahman-cross steers from G James sold for 414c/$1760.
Charbray-cross steers from Monsildale made 437c to return $1486 and $1404. Charbray steers from Neil Hayward, Sexton, sold for 442c/$1460 and 440c/$1279, while their Brahman-cross brothers made 434c/$1339. Droughtmaster-cross steers from Ernest Evans sold for 422c/$1512. Charbray steers from Parshot P/L, Kandanga, sold to a top of 438c/$1473.
Santa-cross steers from Greg McArthur, Kilkivan, made 454c/$1258. Droughtmaster steers from Halgalemo P/L, Gunalda, made 476c to return $1321 and $1230 and 504c to return $1163 and $1078. Charbray steers from C and S Sweet made 480c/$1295. Jason Johnston, Obi Obi, sold quality Droughtmaster and Simmental-cross weaner steers for 442c/$1449 then 524c, 504c, 500c and 490c.
Charbray steers from Dion Williams, Woolooga, made 488c/$1196. Light Droughtmaster steers from Maulucy P/L made 538c to return $984 and $947. J and L Reithmuller, Tiaro, sold Droughtmaster steers for 542c/$951. Droughtmaster-cross steers from Ian and Sharon Brown, Thinoomba made 536c/$1053. Hereford-cross steers from Eidsvold sold to a top of 542c.
Feeder heifers were limited in supply and quality topping at 396c. Brangus heifers from Parshot P/L made 426c to return $1214. Charbray heifers from C and S Sweet, Cootharaba, made 440c/$1178. Quality high grade Brahman heifers, eight months, from Yenda, Gayndah, made 500c to return $1208 and $1110. Weaner heifers to restockers made from 400c to 478c, while heifers to processors made from 385c to 422c.
Topping the sale was quality Droughtmaster cows and calves from Robert Kirk, Lara Partnership, Gayndah, which made $3000/unit and $2800 while the pregnancy tested cows made $2250. The next run of cows and calves generally sold from $1500 to $1850.
