Mapping issued today (Thursday) shows while rain can be expected in parts of Central Queensland on Saturday, and cumulative falls will scarcely wet the bottom of the rain gauge.
In fact, BOM says the best totals will be in the 5mm range in South West Queensland (see map below).
The official forecaster says today (Thursday) there is a slight chance of thunderstorms with little or no rainfall and possibly gusty winds over south eastern Queensland. There is also a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast.
On Friday, BOM says a high in the Great Australian Bight will extend a ridge across the south west. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms about central eastern districts, east of the trough.
On Saturday, there is a slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms over the coastal and inland regions of eastern and northern districts. BOM says there are a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible through the central inland.
BOM says on Sunday there is a slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms over eastern and northern districts inland from the coast, extending to parts of the southern and central interior.
Some locally heavy rainfall is possible with thunderstorms about parts of the southern and central inland.
From Monday to Wednesday, BOM says there is a slight to medium chance of showers about the east coast. There is also a slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms over eastern and northern interior districts, possibly spreading to the south west.
