A decision to relocate the Yarrabee Santa Gertrudis stud bull sale from CQLX to Emerald Ag-Grow site, proved to be a winner for Maurice, Margaret and Will Barlow, as 28 bulls sold to average $8820, representing 88 per cent clearance.
The sale result was a significant improvement on last year's average of $3240, and 64pc clearance.
The top priced bull was sold early in the catalogue when Lot 4, Yarrabee Inforce 1459 (P) sold $18,000.00.
Yarrabee Inforce 1459 was sired by Yarrabee Duke 1201 (P) and from Yarrabee Carla 6091 and was bought by Andrew and Jules Orman, Benelkay Santa Gertrudis Stud, Mullaley NSW.
It was his impressive data which attracted the interstate buyers with his weight at 900 kilograms, an eye muscle area of 150 square centimetres, and P8 & Rib fat scans of 11mm and 8mm.
Yarrabee Inforce was described as a good long body bull, with plenty of depth, muscle and smoothness of skin.
"He had the punch we were looking for, and his grand sire is Yarrawonga Wagner who has bred well," Mr Orman said.
Next at $17,000 was Wilamba Illinos 145 (P) who was bought by Raymond Cattle Company, Raymond, Springsure QLD.
Wilamba Illinos weighed in at 876kgs, has an EMA of 136sq cm and P8 & Rib fat of 11mm and 7mm, respectively.
Sired by Cardona N205 (P) from Wilamba Ellis 45, this young sire displayed plenty of power and had all the structurally correct characteristics of the Santa Gertrudis breed.
Overall Raymond Cattle Company, finished with two bulls to average $10,500.
Roger and Shane Hatton, Diamond H Santa Gertrudis Stud, Murungha, Chinchilla, selected Leaowen Ian 1463 (PS) for $16,000.
Rod and Margaret Wilson, Hayleigh Farms Santa Gertrudis Stud, Dallarnil secured Yarrabee Inca 1486 (P) for $13,000.
Greg and Jenny New, Many Springs, Nebo, finished with four bulls to average $7500.
The Moller family, Recruit, Clermont, bought three bulls to average $8,665, while Coovin Pastoral Company, Coovin, Clermont, also selected three bulls to average $8000.
Daandine Pastoral Company, Gwambegwine, Taroom purchased two bulls to average $15,000.
Barrett Grazing, Southern Cross Station, Charters Towers finished with two bulls to average $5000.
Buyers attended from Nebo, Alpha, Clermont, Thangool, Biloela, Charters Towers Dallarnil, Durong, Toowoomba, Springsure, Capella, Taroom, Rolleston and as far as Mullaley, NSW.
