Cattle numbers for Queensland totalled 5368 head last week, an increase of 231 head. A significant portion of last week's national offering hailed from Queensland with north and southern Qld being the two largest listing regions, offering 2339 and 1601 head respectively. Southern Qld secured 1403 head, the second highest purchasing region behind the NSW Central West.

Cows and calves increased $111 and sold between $1400 and $3620, to average $2614. Angus/Santa Gertrudis cows with CAF from Roma aged 5-8 years weighing 542kg returned $2650.
PTIC cows sold from $1250 to $2590, averaging $1808, easing $50. Angus/Santa Gertrudis cows aged 5-8 years from Roma weighing 591kg returned $2150.
PTIC heifers were back $147, to average $1700 as they sold between $700 and $2490. From Dirranbandi, a line of Santa Gertrudis heifers aged 16-20 months and weighing 430kg returned $2010.
Heifers under 200kg sold from 481c to 602c, averaging 516c, up 16c. The top price hailed from Peranga, with Berndale Beef offering 28 Speckle Park/Santa Cross heifers. The Wattle Grove blood heifers are 6-9 months old and weigh 190kg.
Steers 200-280kg sold from 386c to 571c, to average 472c, easing 27c. Angus yearling steers from Goondiwindi weighing 258kg returned 521c. Red Angus weaner steers from Julia Creek aged 5-12 months weighing 213kg returned 504c.
SHEEP
Queensland sheep numbers increased by 2948 head to total 5570 head. Southern Qld secured the most numbers for the state, purchasing 3176 head.
Merino wethers sold from $115 to $145, averaging $127, up $3. PR and JL Kirby, St George, sold four to seven-year-old wethers, weighing 59kg with a 1" skin for the top price.
Merino ewe hoggets sold from $186 to $306, averaging $249, down $17. NSM Merino ewe hoggets from Cunnamulla weighing 56kg returned $241.
Proven Merino breeders sold from $139 to $274, averaging $197, up $6. From Stamford, a line of NSM Merino ewes aged two to six years weighing 48kg returned $151.
