The North Australian Pastoral Company team at Mantuan Downs west of Springsure is in shock following the death of one of their employees in a car accident on Sunday evening.
According to police, a 23-year-old woman died following a single vehicle rollover 40 kilometres west of Springsure, in the Cona Creek locality.
The woman was a passenger in a Toyota Prado travelling west on the Dawson Development Road when the driver lost control at around 6.20pm.
Police said the vehicle rolled several times.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and a rescue helicopter responded to the accident.
They assessed the 23yo passenger for critical injuries at the scene but she was sadly declared deceased.
They also treated the 19-year-old female driver, originally from Ferny Grove in Brisbane, at the scene for suspected spinal injuries.
She was transported via road to the Springsure Hospital before being airlifted to the Rockhampton Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A police spokesman said its Forensic Crash Unit was investigating and it was too early to say at this stage how the accident occurred.
NAPCo CEO Richard Brimblecombe said the accident had been deeply distressing to all in his team.
The young woman, originally from Victoria, had been with the company at Mantuan Downs since May.
"It's tragic to see a young life cut short," Mr Brimblecombe said. "Our focus is on supporting the families of those affected, and our team."
Mr Brimblecombe said NAPCo had activated its employee assistance program and had made it available to the woman's family as well.
