Commercial producers chasing the benefits afforded by composite sires paid to a top of $11,000 at the Tremere Pastoral African genetics bull sale on Friday.

Held on-property at Tremere, Moura, for the first time this year, Swin and Kathy Hudson sold 22 of the 38 bulls on offer for a 58 per cent clearance rate and average of $5227.
Cardbeign, Springsure, paid the top money to secure a scurred Belmont Red sire prospect weighing 530 kilograms.
The 23-month-old had a scrotal measurement of 34 centimetres, eye muscle area of 95 square centimetres, rib and rump fat of 5mm and 7mm respectively, and a marble score of 3.6pc.
A second-top price of $9500 was achieved twice.
B and R Webster, Melvyn, Talwood, secured a 22-month-old Belmont Red from a dam with a calving interval of 351 days.
Weighing 540kg, the bull had an EMA of 97sq cm, scrotal measurement of 34cm, rib fat of 3mm and rump fat of 4mm.

The Wright family, Mt Spencer Pastoral Co, Nebo, also paid the second-top price, purchasing a 23-month-old, 528kg sire prospect with an EMA of 107sq cm, scrotal circumference of 34cm, rib fat of 5mm and rump fat of 7mm.
They were also the top volume buyers, selecting four bulls for an average of $6000.
The sale attracted 13 registered bidders, including five through AuctionsPlus, and was conducted under the Helmsman system.
