The Cooinda Santa Gertrudis bull sale opened with TopX auctioneer Cyril Close saying "a quick sale is a good sale", and that's exactly how things played out on Monday.
New and return clients didn't mess around in accounting for the entire draft of 59 bulls for an average of $9872, in what was the Fox family's 10th annual on-property sale.
The top price of $21,000 came early in the draft, with Landsborough Santas, Winton, placing the winning bid for Cooinda Quizzinator Q668 (PS).
At 22-months-old, the sire prospect tipped the scales at 842 kilograms, had an eye muscle area of 134 square centimetres and measured 40cm for scrotal circumference.
Sired by Cooinda Maui M990 (PS), the bull had P8 and rib fat depths of 14mm and 13mm respectively, intramuscular fat of 5.3pc, and an average daily gain of 1.22kg.
Losing out on the sale topper, Ben Adams, Dangarfield Cattle Co, Taroom, bid up big on the next bull into the ring to purchase Cooinda Quoit Q244 (PP) for $19,000.
A son of Moongana Kansas 2766 (PS), the 23-month-old weighed 812kg, had an EMA of 133sq cm and a scrotal measurement of 40cm.
From a Rosevale Jaegerbomb (P) daughter, the sire prospect had P8 and rib fat depths of 14mm and 12mm respectively, IMF of 5.4pc, and morphology of 84pc.
Arrabury Pastoral Company were the top volume buyers, securing six bulls for an average of $9333, while Darren Pedracini, Lornevale Station, Georgetown, purchased three for a $9666 average.
