Weetwood may be the target

As a Darling Downs product to his bootlaces, Gollan is all too aware of the high esteem in which the historic Weetwood Handicap is held. Yet it remains an elusive goal.

With Zoustyle, by Zoustar from the German mare Fashion and a winner six times in 10 assignments, Gollan hopes he has the horse to capture Weetwood glory.

The Weetwood is usually run in the autumn but has shifted to September 26 because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zoustyle is on the cusp of another race campaign, having rested since late March on an automatic three-month ban through a bleeding attack while contesting the Group 3 rated Maurice McCarten Stakes in Sydney.

Meanwhile, Sky Racing has secured a new, 10-year agreement to telecast Queensland's three racing codes to domestic and international markets.

Racing Queensland officials claim the tri-code deal to be the first of its kind among Australia's major racing jurisdictions with benefits such as enhanced coverage and increased distribution with the potential for bookmakers to broadcast Queensland racing.

RQ chairman Steve Wilson said the agreement was "a positive step" and CEO Brendan Parnell said the industry may lure new audiences with racing broadcast "across the nation and the globe".

Regional and country racing this Saturday will be under way at Barcaldine, Chinchilla, Gladstone, Home Hill and Toowoomba. Sunshine Coast races on Sunday.
