Sullivan Livestock yarded 2153 cattle at their Gympie cattle sale held on Monday where the market for quality remained firm on recent sales, while lesser types were slightly cheaper.

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Maryborough, Eumundi, Conondale, Kenilworth and all local areas.
Quality Simmental cross steers 20 months from Neville and Lyndall Ensbey, Kandanga, sold for 385c/kg ($1712 and $1673). Charolais cross steers from P and S Johnston, Kin Kin, made 382c ($1695). Charolais cross steers from the Ferris family, Kin Kin, sold for 372c to return $1595.
Droughtmaster cross steers from the Wagner family, Gunalda, made 370c ($1557 and $1538). Brangus steers from R and M Helmore, Kilkivan, made 364c ($1253). Simmental cross weaner steers from WG and SE Blakeney, Coondoo, made 392c ($1008).
Charbray steers from L and C Gear, Wolooga, made 396c ($1342 and $1018). Droughtmaster steers from D and P Wippell, Mooloo, made 390c ($1011 and $955). John and Debbie Atherton, Miva Station, sold a good line of Brahman weaner steers for 410c to return $942, $926, $850, $784 and $748.
Peter Buntine, Calico Creek, sold Brahman cross steers for 408c ($736). Droughtmaster cross steers from L A Messer made 430c ($846). Mourlin Court Pastoral, Wonga, sold Charolais cross steers for 420c ($934). Generally the next run of weaner steers sold from 350c to 382c.
Charbray heifers 20 months from Les Gear, Woolooga, sold from 350c ($1428). Droughtmaster heifers from B and F Hartnell, Mooloo, sold for 332c ($1234 and $1170). Astenridge Pty Ltd, Woolooga, made 330c ($980). Charolais cross heifers from R and A Bambling, Sexton, made 346c ($988).
Charolais cross heifers from M Mahon, Langshaw, made 360c ($868). The Wagner family sold Droughtmaster cross Charbray weaner heifers for 354c ($824 and $806 and $784).Vealer heifers to processors generally sold from 340c to 361c. Light conditioned plainer types of heifers sold from 300c to 338c.
Cows and calves topped at $1600 for Droughtmaster cross cows and calves from Oakwood Station, Kilkivan. Better quality cows and calves sold from $1200 to $1500.
