Numbers increased by 112 head to 304 at the Toowoomba cattle sale on Monday.
Young cattle were in the largest numbers, along with a handful of heavy grown steers and a small selection of cows. The usual feed and trade buyers was present and operating, plus a large lineup of restockers and onlookers.
Restockers provided strong competition on young light weight cattle. Medium weight yearling steers and heifers experienced strong support from feeder operators as well as restockers.
Heavy grown steers and cows were too small in numbers to reliably quote. Yearling steers under 200kg returned to the paddock at an average of 448c and sold to 460.2c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg sold to restockers at an average of 414c with sales to 444.2c/kg.
Yearling steers to feed under 330kg averaged 408c and made to 415.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 413.2c to average 382c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers sold to restockers at an average of 383c and made to 406c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed under 330kg made to 413.2c to average 391c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 386c and made to 390c/kg.
Heavy grown steers to export processors sold to and averaged 352.2c, and a couple of grown heifers made to 340.2c/kg.
Medium weight poor condition cows averaged 200c, and heavy weight cows made to 263c/kg.
