Weaners and younger cattle were in high demand at Woodford on Monday.

There were 507 head sold on Monday at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale. The market was strong for all types, with weaners and younger cattle in high demand.

Beachreel Pty Ltd, Dayboro, sold Droughtmaster cows for $1500 and $1450. Paul Dingle, Elaman Creek, sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1440 and Droughtmaster heifers for $970. Elroy Transport, Woodford, sold six to seven-month-old Charbray steers for $890. Eden Park Australia, Kurwongbah, sold a line of five-month-old Droughtmaster steers for $745.

G & B Christianson, Monsildale, sold lines of six-month-old Charbray calves, with steers making $875 and heifers $660. Sydney Watters, Stony Creek, sold a line of Droughtmaster heifers, 10 to 12 months, for $990. Wild Horse Pastoral, Elginvale, sold seven-month-old Santa steers for $835.

Burstow Park Farm, Royston, sold seven to eight-month-old mixed bred steers for $855. Russell Long, Woolmar, sold a line of Droughtmaster male calves, five to six months, for $735. Eagle Hall Pty Ltd, Moorina, sold a young Droughtmaster bull for $1420 and Simmental weaner heifers for $750-$800.

Dundale Pty Ltd, Morayfield, sold weaner steers for $935. Daryl Chambers, Mt Pleasant, sold Charolais cross steers, 10 months, for $910. Diane Chambers, Neurum, sold a line of Simmental cross heifers for $845. Irwin Draper, Royston, sold six to seven-month-old Angus steers for $845.

ALB Pastoral, Woolmar, sold five to six-month-old Limousin cross steers for $750. Gordon Engle, Maleny, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $900. Friedrich family, Toogoolawah, sold Murray Grey cows and calves for $1360.
