A superb draft of 70 registered Brahman females have been catalogued for the Gympie Brahman Female Sale, which due to current movement restrictions, will be held entirely online through Elite Livestock Auctions on Saturday, June 6 from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Australian Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA) manager Anastasia Fanning said 12 highly regarded studs will be offering a combined draft of 16 reds (including eight poll/scurr lots and 54 greys (including 10 poll/scurr lots) on the day.
"The catalogue for the 2020 Gympie Female Sale has again been filled with tremendous breeder prospect females," Mrs Fanning said.
"For their age, a large portion of the draft are showing lovely breeder types with femininity, nice length, strong toplines and deep flanks," she said.
"Included in the draft there are several studs which have numerous lots, which creates an opportunity to show off consistency of type from these stud breeders."
She said the draft has proven breeding pedigrees behind many of the females.
"This certainly makes for opportunities for potential purchasers to take these impressive females back into their breeding herds and have their influence there for years to come."
The sale has been running since 1973 but has been an ABBA sponsored sale since 2003. The 2019 sale saw 80 females average $4281 for a clearance rate of 89 per cent, with 53 greys selling for $4570 while 27 reds averaged $3712.
"This sale has been consistently appealing to vendors and buyers alike due to the diversity of breeding and high quality females available from vendors. As the sale is centrally located, in years past, heifers have been purchased at the sale by commercial producers from Central Qld and down into New South Wales."
Mrs Fanning said due to rain a couple of months ago there is generally a good body of feed around the vendors regions.
"There are some dams which don't have enough water in them, however overall the season is looking good and markedly improved on the last few years."
The sale will be held solely online with the females remaining on property until delivery. Apart from the photos and videos supplied the opportunity is available to visit the heifers on property by contacting individual studs. The vendor contact details are available through the ABBA online catalogue at brahman.com.au.
The catalogue is now available online at brahman.com.au and on elitelivestockauctions.com.au a printed catalogue is also available through the ABBA office.
