In mid-January, they planted 60 hectares of Pacific Seeds 606IT corn on their leased property at Spring Creek and a further 60ha on their home property, Carinya, at Berat near Allora.
The Spring Creek crop will be chopped for silage but Mr Mullins said frost would determine whether the later-planted crop would become earlage or silage.
"We usually grow corn for either silage, earlage or grain, depending on what the season is like," Mr Mullins said.
"We had a few showers that wet the leased country more than at home; it has had it a little bit easier the whole time."

The Mullins have got most of their winter crop in but like many growers on the Darling Downs, they say conditions have dried off.
They planted 45ha of Bennett wheat in early March but if more rain arrives, they expect to plant more barley.
"At this stage the oats and wheat we have in is looking for a drink now," he said.
"It'd be happy to get a shower of rain, anytime."
The couple farm in conjunction with Chris' brother Andrew and wife, Naomi, and everything they grow is used for feed in the dairy.
They milk about 240 head of Holsteins and have supplied to Norco since 2007.
Mr Mullins said they shifted to Norco shortly after taking over the business from their parents, and they had been good to deal with.
