Cows with calves at foot from Queensland sold from $1310 to $2520. The top priced line was a mob of Hereford cows and calves from Killarney, aged 28 to 34 months.
The top priced PTIC heifer from Queensland was a line of Senepol Cross/Droughtmaster 20 to 36-month-old heifers from Alpha, which sold to for $1270 to a buyer in northern NSW.
Overall, steer numbers were down, with 6526 offered last week. The reduced offering saw an upward trend in prices with increases across most weight categories and strong clearance rates.
The light steers under 200kg sold between 409c and 558c to average 485c. The top price went to a line of 29 weaned Angus steers from Allora that are EU accredited, six to nine months old and weigh 165kg.
There was also a significantly reduced offering of heifers last week with 6832 head listed, down 4660 head.
Light heifers under 200kg, sold between 315c and 530c to average 444c, up 13c. A line of 100 Santa Gertrudis, EU accredited heifers, six to seven months old, weighing 174kg from Rolleston made 490c.
Steers 200-280kg were priced between 372c and 542c, averaging 466c, up 13c, while heifers of the same weight sold from 279c to 483c, averaging 398c, up 39c.
From Thallon, 235kg Angus steers sold to a buyer at Moree, NSW for 473c; 227kg Angus heifers from Texas, sold to a buyer at Narrabri, NSW for 382c.
SHEEP
Sheep and lamb number numbers from Queensland fell by 2600 head to see 13,817 head offered.
Merino ewe lambs sold from $155.50 to $271 and averaged $209, up $23. Ewe lambs 10 to 11 months old from Longreach sold to a buyer at Mungindi, NSW for $165.
Merino wether lambs sold from $75 to $178 averaging $137, down $3, while Merino wethers averaged $143, down $16, selling from $119 to $152.
The top price was returned by a line of 1000 Merino wethers from Longreach. These 1.5-year-old woolgrower wether lambs are 54kg, have a 2" skin on their backs and will remain locally.
Other highlights include 440 White Dorper mixed sex lambs from Bollon, that returned $148. These lambs are 24kg, Jul - Aug '19 drop and will travel to Trangie, NSW.
