Cattle numbers from Queensland totalled 1105 head offered online on AuctionsPlus last week, up 780 on the previous week. Much-needed rain in some parts of the country boosted buyer confidence with clearance and prices increasing across all stock categories.
Heifers under 280kg from Queensland sold from 277c to 384c/kg to average 316c. The top priced lot was a line of 156kg five to six-month-old Angus weaners from Talwood. Santa heifers 154kg from Goondiwindi sold for 359c.
Nationally heifers 280-330kg sold from 242c to 287c and averaged 268c, up 14c. The top price was achieved by 40 Angus feeder heifers from Goomburra. The heifers are 12-14 months, weigh 309kg and are heading to a buyer in NSW.
Steers under 280kg from Queensland sold from 285c to 362c to average 323c. The top priced line was a mob of 163kg Angus steers from Talwood. Angus steers 278kg from Clifton sold for 320c to a buyer in northern NSW.
Other Queensland cattle highlights included three to five-year-old Angus cows and calves from Bringalily selling to southern NSW for $1270, three to seven-year-old Santa cows and calves from Millmerran selling to a Queensland buyer for $1200 and 11 to 15-month-old 292kg Angus steers from Clifton selling for 322c.
SHEEP
Sheep and lamb number numbers from Queensland totalled 5632 head offered, including 360 goats. Buyer confidence was lifted with the prediction of rain earlier in the week, reflected in the 85 per cent clearance across all the national sales.
Nationally Merino ewe lambs sold from $117 to $241, averaging $152, while unjoined Merino ewes sold from $91 to $230, averaging $167. From Mungindi, Aug/Sept '19 drop 21kg future breeder Merino ewe lambs sold for $121. Four to five-year-old unjoined Merino ewes from Stanthorpe sold for $130 to a NSW buyer.
Merino wether lambs sold from $58 to $146, averaging $96, down $5. Aug/Sept '19 drop Merino wether lambs 21kg from Mungindi sold into NSW for $67.
Store lambs continued to be in high demand with a 87pc clearance across the 12,952 head offered. Prices ranged from 318c to 539c, to average 391c/kg live.
Queensland highlights include 41kg Aug/Sept '19 drop mixed sex Dorper lambs from Augathella, selling for $143, and 40kg July/Aug '19 drop Australian White wether lambs from Cunnamulla selling for $132.
