Toogoolawah sale started the year with a solid market for all quality cattle in a yarding of 1210.
Santa steers two-and-a-half to three years a/c Ken Miers sold at $1740. Suzy Fogg, Linville, sold Charbray milk tooth steers at $ 1460. Ron Dunning had Santa cross steers two years at $1390.
Anger and Hochmuth, Thangool, had Euro cross steers two years at $1190. Pat Toohill, Aratula, sold Santa cross steers at $1010. Len and Pat Haynes sold Charolais cross steers 16 months at $900.
Bjelke Pastoral Co., Moore, had quality Charolais cross yearling steers at $740. Barnes Grazing Co. sold Santa cross steers 10 months at $760. Jim Chaplin had Droughtmaster steers 12 months at $790.
Anger and Hochmuth had Droughtmaster cross steers 12-14 months at $860, $760 and $780. RSVP Droughtmasters sold Droughtmaster weaner steers at $650. Graham McPherson sold his quality Charbray weaner steers at $800.
Granite Hill Grazing had light condition Charolais cross steers 12 months at $770. Plain and light condition steer calves found a harder market and sold in the $250 to $400 range. Darren Pratten had Charbray steers eight months at $600.
Quality lines of heifers were offered. Merv Burow had Charbray heifers 20 months at $940. Suzy Fogg's 20 months heifers sold at $950. Jimna Grazing Co. sold Santa heifers 20 months at $900.
A draft of 200 heifers from the Eidsvold district met spirited competition for the quality draft in light store condition. Euro cross heifers 18 months sold at $800. Charolais cross heifers 10-12 months sold at $620, $600, $590 and $550.
Apel and Co. of Gin Gin sold an outstanding line of 200 Charbray heifers 12-16 months. The quality saw lotfeeders and future breeder buyers give buoyant competition for this beautifully presented line. Sales were $850, $890, $820 and down to $620 for the lighter animals, with the very smallest sell at $520. A very good result in troubled times.
Brad Ward had 20 months heifers at $740 and $680. Reiser and Sons sold Charbray heifers eight months in light condition $475. Small and light heifers met a tougher market and depending on quality sold in the $180 to $300 range.
M and D Sanders had Euro cross cows and calves at $860. Boobir Creek Holdings sold quality light condition Droughtmaster cows and calves at $750.
