The supply of stock at Toowoomba on Monday remained close to the previous week's level, for the second last sale before the Christmas break.
Overall quality continues to decline with larger numbers of steer and heifer calves included in the yarding. Export processor and feeder buyer attendance was not as good as the previous sale.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 17c cheaper, and poor quality lines averaged 30c/kg less. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 11c/kg dearer. Most classes of yearling heifers sold to a cheaper trend.
The mixed quality yarding of cows sold to a much cheaper market to average 25c to 40c/kg less.
Well bred steer calves sold to restockers at an average of 249c, with some to 278.2c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 236.2c to average 222c, and poor quality lines averaged 142c/kg.
A small selection of medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 270c to average 261c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 306.2c to average 297c/kg.
The best of the light weight yearling heifers made to 206.2c, however poor quality lines were in the largest numbers and averaged 123c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to the local trade market made to 266.2c to average 260c/kg.
Medium weight poor condition cows averaged 114c, and the better 2 scores averaged 157c, and made to 164.2c/kg. Good heavy cows made to the occasional 215.2c to average 198c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 223.2c.
