A larger offering of 2109 cattle at Sullivan Livestock's Gympie Cattle Sale on Monday saw the market for quality and heavy cattle remain firm to dearer while plainer types remained firm.
Cattle were drawn from Mt Perry, Bundaberg, Mundubbera, Booubyjan, Goomeri, Nanango, Aramara, Woolooga, Eumundi, Kenilworth, Conondale & all local areas.
Charbray feeder steers from J O'Connor, Cootharaba, made 312c to return $1306 and $1290. Droughtmaster cross steers from the Maher family, Pinbarren, made 304c or $1276. Charbray cross steers from Alan Ford, Cedar Pocket, sold for 300c to return $1216.
Quality Droughtmaster steers from Blimey Downs, The Palms, made 300c and 305c to return $1208, $1050 and $1002. Limousin cross steers from Eric Brady, Corella, sold for 298c ($1037). Quality Charbray weaner steers from Grant Gericke, Mundubbera, made 319c ($884).
Noela Augustine's Charbray steers made 296c ($756). Droughtmaster weaner steers from the Portas family, Woolooga, made 285c and 279c to return $730 and $616. Generally weaner steers sold from 240c to 280c pending quality.
F1 Speckle Park heifers from Noela Augustine, Mundubbera, made 332c to return $1415. Droughtmaster heifers from Alan May, Mt Perry, sold for 278c ($999). Charbray weaner heifers from Grant Gericke made 265c ($817 and $765), while their lighter sisters made 233c ($587).
Droughtmaster heifers from Ross McClymont, Woolooga, made 259c ($767). Charbray weaner heifers from Noela Augustine made 253c ($686) and 233c ($541). Droughtmaster heifers from the Portas family made 241c ($554).
Good conditioned vealers to processors made from 205c to 238c. Plainer store conditioned calves generally sold from 140c to 188c.
Cows and calves topped at $900, with most selling from $700 to $890.
The next liveweight sale will be on Monday December 2 - the last sale for 2019.
