The 43rd annual Australian Brangus Cattle Association (ABCA) sponsored Rockhampton Brangus Sale will again see the nations' largest offering of first-rate Brangus genetics made available for purchase at CQLX Gracemere on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15.
Monday will be ladies day with 240 heifers to be offered in the ring during the Ray White Livestock Brangus Commercial Female Sale commencing at 9.30am, and from 11am a contingent of 60 striking registered stud females will go under the hammer.
Six semen lots and four embryo packages will also be up for auction on the Monday after the females have their time in the ring.
From 9.30am the next morning an impressive selection of 150 registered stud bulls will be available for prospective buyers to bid on.
Sale committee spokesperson Nev Hansen said 36 vendors hailing from Far North Queensland down to southern New South Wales will offer drafts at the sale.
"These studs have saved their top end bulls and heifers for the sale," Mr Hansen said.
"The catalogue is packed with uniformly consistent lines of sire and dam prospects backed by impressive bloodlines which will provide stud and commercial buyers with a diverse array of options with which to improve their herds," he said.
"It's clear that the bulls available this year have been bred to suit the requirements of commercial operators."
Mr Hansen said while rain has continued to prove elusive around Rockhampton, vendors to the north and the west have reported better conditions.
"It has been a very wet year up around Atherton, but most places have been pretty dry. In saying that the sale was held under similar conditions last year and we achieved a solid result."
At the 2018 sale 152 bulls sold to average $8141, while 41 stud females averaged $5146. A total of 131 commercial heifers averaged $767, while five cow and calf units averaged $850.
Prospective buyers who're unable to attend the sale can access the RLX online platform to register and bid with confidence during the sale.
The draft will be available for inspections from the afternoon of Sunday, October 13, and prior to the sale on the Monday.
Supplementary sheets with fat scans, eye muscle scores and weights will be made available on the morning of the sale.
