The annual Central Reds Droughtmaster Bull Sale has topped at $11,000 for an average of $4763 and a 61 per cent clearance.

The annual Central Reds Droughtmaster Bull Sale has topped at $11,000 for an average of $4763 and a 61pc clearance in a mark of the dry seasonal conditions.

The multi-vendor sale, held in Emerald on Monday, drew predominantly local buyers, with all eight vendors grateful for the support of new and repeat buyers.

Taking the top price of the day at $11,000 was 23-month-old Vale View M Galaxy, offered by first-time vendors Dave, Colleen and Mac Smith, Vale View, Manumbar and bought by Kevin and Leesa Woolcock, Mostyndale Droughtmasters, Springsure.

The homozygous polled bull was a son of Angel Zed Ferdinand from Vale View Wapeka. He weighed 850kg with 37cm scrotal circumference, 80pc semen motility, 12mm P8 fat and 8mm rib fat, eye muscle area of 148 sq cm and intramuscular fat of 4.6pc

Ms Woolcock said they had bought Vale View genetics before and been extremely happy with the impact on their herd.

"In particular we liked the temperament, length, volume and tropical skin displayed in Lot 71 all of which were backed with excellent figures," she said.

The second top price of $9000 was fetched by 21-month-old Mostyndale 832 (PP), offered by the Woolcocks and bought by the Sparrow family, North Tullamore, Alpha.

A son of Sire Vale View Xtorsion, he weighed 690kg, with a 37cm scrotal circumference, 80pc semen motility, P8 and rib fat of 13mm and 8mm, 127 sq cm EMA and 4.6pc IMF.

The third top price of $7500 went to 22-month-old, 705kg Kenlogan Vado, offered by Andrew and Sonya Harvey, Kenlogan, Clermont and bought by Mark and Linda Deguara, Mia Mia, Mackay.

Volume buyer Redfield Pastoral, Washpool, Blackwater bought six bulls to average $4750.
