Cattle numbers from Queensland on AuctionsPlus last week totalled 1619 head offered, 400 more than the previous week. Light restocker steers under 280kg sold from 228c to 288c, with an average of 273c, up 1c. Heifers under 280kg ranged from 170c to 328c with an average of 242c. Highlights included a line of 8 to 10-month-old 189kg Angus and Angus/Santa cross steers from Goondiwindi making $545/288c; Charbray/Composite cross steers from Blackwater sold for $782/282c; 10 to 15-month-old 250kg pure Wagyu heifers from Kaimkillenbun, made $820/328c.
Pregnancy tested cows from Queensland were topped by a line of three to eight-year-old Nindooinbah blood Ultra Black cows from Beaudesert, which were PTIC to a Nundooinbah bull.
Queensland continues to look to the Northern Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains of NSW to source cattle. Lines of 200kg and 300kg steers were purchased out of Inverell and Glen Innes, while Angus cows with calves at foot from Inverell sold to a buyer in Proston.
Sheep
Sheep numbers from Queensland online last week totalled 3637, while 1321 goats were also offered in the National Goat Sale. This represents a drop of just under 400 from the week before. Merino ewes from Queensland was topped by a line of 14 to 16-month-old hoggets from Goondiwindi, which were scanned in lamb to White Suffolk rams. The scanned empty sisters from the same property sold for $126.
Merino wether hoggets were topped by a line of Egelabra blood 45kg woolgrowers from Longreach. This mob had a 2'' skin and made $141. Three and four-year-old 54kg grown wethers also from Longreach, sold to $138.
The past week saw 1331 head offered in the first National AuctionsPlus goat sale. Dudauman Park, Quandialla, NSW sold the top price Boer buck goat with tag 8341 selling for $505, while Red Boer bucks sold to a top of $275. Does were topped by a line of 22kg 8 to 9-month Boer/Rangeland cross goats from Mitchell for $160. Eight to nine-month-old 22kg Boer/Rangeland cross wether goats sold to a top of $95.
