
A top price of $12,000 was achieved at the 2019 Ag-Grow Premier Multi-Breed Bull sale held in conjunction with the Ag Grow Field Days at Emerald on Friday.
In all, selling agents cleared 65 of the 111 bulls offered achieving 59 per cent clearance.
However it was Ian and Katrina Bebbington, Mountview Charolais, Cambooya, who claimed the top priced money with the 22 month-old-sire Mountview Notorious N42E (P).
Notorious caught the attention of many astute cattlemen for his volume and softness and finally sold to David Dennis, Walthum Station, Clermont.
A son of Canoona Flame Proof IGV F23E from Mountview Lazy Girl G18E, Notorious entered the sale ring at 928 kilograms. He has a scrotal circumference of 41 centimetres and an eye muscle area of 141 sq cms.
The Bebbingtons also offered the second top price bull Mountveiw Norton N35E at $11,500.
Norton, a red factor bull, is by Merit Roundup from Mountview Fancy Girl, and was bought by Allan and Denise Stevenson, Spring Creek, Springsure.
In all, the Bebbingtons sold six bulls to average $7750. They are repeat vendors at this sale for many years, and have previously topped the sale, but this year Mountview Notorious set a new record price for them.
The Price family Moongool Charolais, Yuleba, sold third top price at $11,000.
Moongool N198, a son of Moongool Freedom (P) was bought by Brett and Susan Kirk, Hazelton Brahmans, Blackwood, Middlemount.
Mr Kirk kept buying and paid $10,000 for another Freedom son, Moongool N188.
Both bulls will be used in the Hazelton commercial herd to breed Charbray females who are then joined back to Brahman bulls.
John Borg, Harrybrandt, Nebo, also secured Moongool N981 (P), who is a son of Moongool D962 (P) from Moongool B197 for $10,000.
Results and averages of other breeds sold at the sale include:19 Angus bulls to average $3947, 2 Red Angus bulls to average $3750, 12 Simmental bulls to average $5333 while the 32 Charolais bulls averaged $5844.
