A group of 130 women gathered for the WinCott Ladies of the Land Luncheon in Emerald last month.
The luncheon provided the opportunity for women working in all sectors of agriculture across central Queensland to network, learn and most importantly celebrate being a woman in agriculture.
Guests heard from two speakers Earle May from Sunsuper and Elisha Parker from Cattlesales.com.
With over 35 years of experience in the superannuation industry, Mr May brought light to the financial questions which most put off to another day, providing strategies and solutions to how women can overcome the challenges of financial security, wage equality, and service breaks or reduced hours while raising a family so that the retirement nest egg of a woman grows with them.
Being the only man in the room Mr May received a standing ovation with his recognition that "men are not a financial plan" and that women need to be active in securing their own finances.
Cattlesales.com.au co-founder Elisha Parker continued to ignite the minds of the crowd as she represented the modern multitasking women.
Ms Parker shared her story of juggling, raising a family, running a cattle station, working externally for a Brisbane-based law firm and building a revolutionary online platform to market cattle, all from a remote property.
She inspired women to dream big and not be afraid to break traditions acknowledging that "success is held by those who are awake more then they sleep building their knowledge and networks".
