There was strong competition for export ox and heifers at Moreton sale on Tuesday.

Agents Boyd O'Brien Bartholomew reported a yarding of 850 head of cattle at Moreton on Tuesday. Calf and veal remained firm on last week's trade, while feeders and grain-fed cattle showed slight improvement on last week's prices. Export ox and heifers were in strong competition while bulls and cows eased slightly.

Haptell Pty Ltd, Allenview, sold Euro cross vealer heifers for 173.2c weighing 245kg returning $424. Charolais cross yearling steers account F M O'Shea, Thagoona, sold for 251.2c to weigh 385kg and return $967.

Institutional Investments, Bryden, also sold Simmental cross yearling steers for 269.2c weighing 350kg to return $942. Charolais cross yearling heifers account M Conroy, Bryden, sold for 231.2c weighing 295kg returning $682. C Wieland, Moogerah, sold Santa cross feeder steers for 286.2c/kg weighing 532.9kg to return $1525. Charbray cross feeder heifers account P Eisenmenger, Haigslea, sold for 219.2c weighing 300kg to return $657.

CJ Kruger, Esk, sold Charbray cross grain assist steers for 284.2c weighing 442kg returning $1257. C Wieland also sold Santa cross grass ox for 280c weighing 574kg to return $1610. J and M Dionysius, Gatton, sold Droughtmaster cross cows for 219.2c weighing 720kg to return $1578. Charolais bull account L P and T Haynes, Linville sold for 220c weighing 980kg to return $2156.
