Numbers increased at Warwick by 181 head to 1975. Young cattle were in the largest numbers, and once again cows dominated the grown cattle section with close to 650 cows penned.
Buyer attendance was generally good with representatives covering all classes. Buyers operated selectively on the young light weight cattle with only quality classes in demand.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 17c/kg dearer. Medium weight yearling steers to feed gained 10c, and heavy weights improved by 6c/kg. The better end of the yearling heifers sold to a dearer trend. The good heavy cows lifted in price by 14c, and the medium weight 2 scores averaged 4c/kg better, however poor condition lines experienced only quality related price changes.
Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 270.2c to average 232c, and heifer calves mostly sold around 183c/kg. Vealer heifers to slaughter averaged 221c and made to 255.2c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 245c while some to feed averaged 262c and made to 279.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 276c and made to 289.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 290.2c with most around 286c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers averaged from 178c to 195c, with sales to 220c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 265c and made to 267.2c, with some to the trade reaching 285.2c/kg. Heavy grown steers made to 301.2c to average 295c, with a handful of bullocks reaching 299.2c/kg. Medium weight poor condition cows averaged 144c, and the better 2 scores averaged 183c with sales to 201.2c/kg. Good heavy cows made to the occasional 249.2c, with a good sample averaging 238c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 229.2c.
