A larger offering of 2248 cattle at Sullivan Livestock's Gympie cattle sale saw the market for meatworks cattle remain firm while both feeder steers and heifers were dearer. Weaner steers remained firm while plainer lighter conditioned heifers were cheaper.
Cattle were drawn from Gin Gin, Rosedale, Bundaberg, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Maleny, Kenilworth and all local areas.
Droughtmaster steers from Ray Heilbronn, Fisherman's Pocket made 279c ($1302 and $1212). Droughtmaster steers from Trevor Sallaway, Long Flat made 280c ($1155). Howard and Brenda Kirby, Gemini Downs, sold Simmental cross steers for 294c ($1142) while the Charbray steers made 291c and 292c to return $1185 and $1084 and the Droughtmaster steers made 287c ($1164). Charbray steers from the McDonald family, Rosedale made 290c ($1197) while their Droughtmaster cross brothers made 275c ($1055).
Greg and Leanne Nuske, Kin Kin sold Charolais cross and Droughtmaster cross steers for 284c and 275c to return $1138 and $1128. Senepol cross steers from Doug and Teresa George, Kia Ora made 273c ($1202). Charbray steers from Wendy Herrod, Goomboorian made 280c ($1111). Simmental cross weaner steers from Brad and Melinda Murnane made 275c ($779).
Simmental cross steers from R W Rural made 281c ($848 and $801). Droughtmaster steers from the Russell family made 287c ($700). Greg Tombs, Gunalda sold Droughmaster steers from 297c ($681). Droughtmaster steers from Ross Brothers, Brooweena made 279c ($703). John Krafft Gunalda sold Droughtmaster steers for 271c ($725). The next run of weaner steers sold from 230c to 268c.
Quality Charbray heifers from Sandalwood Cattle, Theebine made 270c ($1026) and their Santa cross sisters sold for 264c ($1037). Limousin cross heifers from Fred Roberts, Sandy Creek made 255c ($873). Droughtmaster heifers from the McDonald family, Rosedale sold for 258c ($841). Brahman cross heifers from Gin Gin sold for 249c ($780) and 241c ($761) and 246c ($638). Simmental cross heifers from B and M Murnane made 241c ($620). Good conditioned vealer heifers sold from 205c to 231c. Plainer store heifers sold from 150c to 200c.
Cows and calves topped at $900 generally sold from $620 to $820.
