Numbers lifted by 2731 to 6218 cattle at Dalby on Wednesday. A full panel of export and feeder buyers was present and all were operating. Medium weight and heavy yearling steers to feed sold to within 2c to 5c/kg of the previous sale. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 12c/kg cheaper. Heavy grown steers and bullocks experienced very little change in price and a larger number of 1400 cows came forward and prices struggled to maintain the level of the previous week.
Light weight yearling steers to feed made to 284.2c to average 273.5c and poor quality lines averaged 232.2c. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed also made to 284.2c to average 278c. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made 164.2c. The largest sample of medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 249.6c. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 267c.
Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 287.4c and made to 295.2c, while a few bullocks made to 295c to average 289c. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 173c and the best medium weights made to 227.2c to average 216.4c. A large number of good heavy cows sold to 240.2c. Heavy bulls made to 253.2c.
